All sorts of new technologies are under the hood of this upgrade. A problem with some navigation systems is that GPS can lose track of vehicles in large cities with skyscrapers. The new system fixes that by using a vehicle's ABS wheel-speed sensors to track how it has moved while under a GPS "shadow" so directions can continue to be given. OnStar tracks suggestions from customers about what additional features it should add. It's considering many, including vehicle maintenance histories, tracking of tire pressure, and even emissions testing. Huber says he shies away from talking about the future very much because OnStar has found that it confuses consumers. "Most people don't even understand what we can do for them today," he says.
